The home team’s Tain Jiaming finished third behind Aishwary with a score of 448.3, while the Indian got a final score of 459.7.

The largest loss, though, went to experienced Indian marksman Swapnil Kusale, who was aiming for a gold medal after dominating for most of the finals. though, a dismal shot of 7.6 caused the 28-year-old to fall dramatically from first to fifth in the “standing position.”

That practically eliminated him from medal contention and while he shot 10.5 and 10.1 in his final two rounds he could only achieve a fourth place finish.

Aishwary, however, will return home happy after winning today’s gold medals in the 10m air rifle and 50m rifle 3-positions teams, in addition to her solo bronze medal in the 10m air rifle and silver medal in the 50m rifle.

Indian shooters had their best-ever performance in the Asian Games as a result, winning 18 medals to far, including six gold.

The previous high was 14 medals earned in the Asian Games in Doha in 2006.
