<p>India’s best men’s singles competitor in the Games, HS Prannoy, also easily advanced into the pre-quarterfinals.</p>
<p>Sindhu defeated the world No. 21 shuttler from Chinese Taipei in 42 minutes at the Binjiang Gymnasium. Sindhu has slipped to the 15th position in the badminton rankings this season.</p>
<p>The Indian, who won gold at the Commonwealth Games last year, has suffered with ailments, but she appeared in control in her first match. She was unrestricted in her movement around the badminton court and exploited her height to outplay Hsu Wen Chi in the first game. The 28-year-old Indian took the opening game in 18 minutes after sprinting to a five-point lead at the half.</p>
<p>Up until Hsu Wen Chi started utilizing a few drop shots to bother PV Sindhu, the match was proceeding at a steady pace.</p>
