<p>Madushanka departed the field during Friday’s second ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh due to a left hamstring injury. She will now travel home to recover.</p>
<p>An MRI exam revealed that Madushanka “has suffered a left hamstring injury,” according to a statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket early on Sunday morning. He will “return [home] to start rehabilitation work.”</p>
<p>The manager of the Sri Lankan squad, Mahinda Halangoda, said, “We only received the report on his injury today [Sunday], and it shows a small tear.” “This injury is brand-new. We’re not sure how long it will take him to heal, but the medical staff at the high-performance center will need to evaluate him once again when he returns home. He will undoubtedly not be in the ODI tomorrow, as of right now.</p>
<p>Madushanka started the second ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, taking the first two wickets before being removed after bowling 6.4 overs, however the visitors prevailed by three wickets.</p>
<p>The third and final game of the three-match series is set to take place on Monday, March 18, with the score tied at one.</p>
<p>The Mumbai Indians added Madushanka and Nuwan Thushara, his teammate from Sri Lanka, to their roster in front of the 2024 Indian Premier League.</p>
<p>After signing for INR 4.6 crore, Madushanka joined a group of bowlers that included Arjun Tendulkar, Thushara, Jasprit Bumrah, Jason Behrendorff, Gerald Coetzee, and Akash Madhwal.</p>
<p>However, as fast-bowling all-rounders, Anshul Kamboj, Romario Shepherd, and skipper Hardik Pandya are also included in the lineup.</p>
<p>Aside from Madushanka, there are significant concerns over Coetzee’s ability to play in the IPL since he is still recovering from a groin injury. Nevertheless, he has connected with the Mumbai Indians and is now under observation by their medical staff.</p>
<p>While the first match of IPL 2024 between the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore is set for March 22, MI will play their first game of the season on Sunday, March 24, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.</p>
